William’s wages as a luggage porter allowed the couple to build a two-level home in 1922. In 1936, they converted the lower level of their home into a dining room, and opened a restaurant called \u003cstrong\u003e\u003cspan class=\"il\"\u003eBadgers\u003c\/span\u003e’ Chicken Dinner Inn\u003c\/strong\u003e. The restaurant served roasted chicken, mashed potatoes, green veggies, and fruit pies. The couple ran the business until 1949.\u003c\/em\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e100% of net proceeds for this event benefit \u003ca href=\"https:\/\/oregonblackpioneers.org\"\u003eOregon Black Pioneers\u003c\/a\u003e, a non-profit organization dedicated to gathering, documenting, sharing and teaching the stories of Early Black Americans in Oregon. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe 5 course menu is served Family Style - no alterations or substitutions.
